Kinetic objects use movement for evocative means. My objects are experiments with motors, sensors, electronics, and industial parts, which I find on scrapheaps and dumps, and which I use in ways that they were not meant to be. By experimenting with these written off parts and physical fenomenae I create machines that try to break the rut by doing routines outside of an industrial productive context. I think their autistic, automatic, and compulsive behavior reflects on human rituals and dogmas.
In 1996 I started to make sculptures and special effects for Amsterdam based internationally acclaimed theatre group Dogtoep which I left in 2003 to work autonomously. Besides this I am a lecturer/coach at the faculty on Industrial Design of the Technical University of Eindhoven, and play/sing/shout in the bands Subwoofer Testing Days and Retro Grave.
Hope you enjoy some of my stuff. Check it out in the 'Work' section.
